PBS Hawaii was the only Hawaii TV station located in the area of a wide power outage last night, and we were knocked off the air until Chief Engineer John Nakahira and staff engineer Richard Reyes got us back up and running.
Viewers who didn't lose power saw our episode of Long Story Short with "Tak" Yoshihara freeze halfway through the half-hour program. Retired Capt. Yoshihara, the first Japanese-American to be admitted to the U.S. Naval Academy, was stopped in mid-sentence. Really bad timing! He was talking about the Navy's reaction when he became horribly, devastatingly seasick on ships as a plebe.
We apologize for any inconvenience to you caused by our interruption in service.
