Here's Dr. Failautusi Avegalio, better known on the UH Manoa campus as Dr. Tusi or Dr. 2c. His job as director of the Pacific Business Center involves bridging Pacific Islander values and Western thought. He has a knack of coming out with observations that make people around him stop and think.
For example: "When things seem to be falling apart, they may be actually coming together."
He explains: "When things seem to be really dismantling all around you, they actually may be part of the process in the next stage in your life, and your journey needs to prepare itself. Because the existing foundation isn't working. So it needs to crumble in some way, and then reconfigure."
He adds: "It takes wisdom to understand this process. You must have courage to confront the dismantling when it does happen in your life, to stay the course."
Dr. 2c will be my guest on the PBS Hawaii program "Long Story Short" at 7:30 pm Tues., June 25, 2013. The show also will be available online at www.PBSHawaii.org/ourproductions/longstory.php
