Kauai residents who view PBS Hawaii via free, over-the-air signals have us back in their homes and offices! Some vital equipment used to serve our Kauai over-the-air viewers broke down on Mount Kahili over the New Year holiday.
Our engineering team has installed a temporary solution - loaner equipment - while we await a permanent fix. What failed is called a translator, which amounts to a junior transmitter.
Most Kauai residents watch PBS Hawaii on cable TV. We want to continue to make our educational programming available to those who can't afford, or choose not to buy, cable or satellite service. And that's what the outpost on Mount Kahili does - send our free broadcast signal throughout Kauai.
