Did you catch this legendary rocker ("Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?") as a crooner of Christmas classics ("Hosanna! Hosanna!") on his first-ever holiday special tonight on PBS' GREAT PERFORMANCES Rod Stewart: Merry Christmas, Baby?
I watched the entire hour and must admit it's still hard for me to wrap my mind around this career transition. I'm still in a winter wonderland about whether it works. Rod Stewart, accompanied by a violin section of beautiful women and a choir... Rod Stewart singing "Auld Lang Syne" with bagpipers...
A la Tony Bennett, he brought in other stars for duets-- Michael Bublé, Cee-Lo Green, and Mary J. Blige.
I felt Stewart's career switch worked best in the upbeat, ensemble performances. What are your thoughts? There's another chance to watch the show this Thursday (Dec. 6, 2012) at 10:00 pm on PBS Hawaii.
