Big Bird is a brighter shade of blond, isn't he? He stands out as he's seated at the recent Hawaii Early Childhood Conference, held in Honolulu by the Hawaii Association for the Education of Young Children.
Big Bird is still employed with the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and he's still as beloved among early- childhood teachers as he is by their students.
You too, Elmo and Cookie Monster. These teachers are from Keonepoko Elementary School on the Big Island. Below, educators from Wahiawa in Central Oahu. PBS Hawaii staffers also were present at the conference, held at the Hawaii Convention Center in Waikiki. Waikiki's the perfect place for the Bird to go barefoot.
