What animal is part dog and part opihi?
It's my small black cat, Kipuka.
He didn't get the cat memo about maintaining a disdainful, disinterested demeanor. No, he's all about showing great affection, bounding like crazy to greet me, nuzzling, playing athletically, and sticking so close that I need to claim space to get things done.
When he does back off, it's to lie in the doorway of whatever room I'm in, so that he can keep a golden eye on me.
That's when he shows the reserve of a cat. He stretches leisurely as if he doesn't care at all when I'm leaving the room--and then races to catch up with me!
A cat with doglike and opihi tendencies. Works for me.
