New Bob Ross Video from PBS
Watch Happy Little Clouds: Bob Ross Remixed on PBS. See more from PBS Digital Studios.
So many people call him "the painting show guy." They may not remember his name but they avidly watch his show, which stars his art, in progress. It's pretty addictive. It looks so easy. The painter is Bob Ross, and even though he passed away in 1995, he hasn't gone away on video. And now he's additionally featured, above, in the latest in a PBS series of TV spots called "Icons Remixed."
The content of Bob's long-running show was timeless, and viewers keep asking for the program. So every Saturday at 2 pm, PBS Hawaii airs The Best of the Joy of Painting with Bob Ross.
I'm no artist, but I love watching Bob's "wet on wet" style, working quickly before the paint dries to add layer upon layer of detail--mountain, trees, river, clouds. These outdoor scenes are inspired by time that Bob spent living in Alaska. Maybe that's why I can't paint like Bob--I never lived in Alaska. Yeah.
