Even when you don't see chickens on Kauai, you hear them. It was fun watching tonight's weekly episode of the HIKI NO student newscast, hosted by Kapaa High School students from various locations on Kauai.
Chickens had nothing to do with any of the stories, and they weren't on-screen. However, in the background, you could often hear crowing, however faint. Several of us at PBS Hawaii watching the program together had to laugh, knowing there's no way the students could have done their outdoor shots and screened out chicken noise. Kapaa's student media team did a fine job, introducing stories filed by fellow HIKI NO journalists.
