All of us at PBS Hawaii join others across the state in sending aloha and wishing good luck to Taggart Nakamoto, Hawaii's rep in the 2012 Scripps National Spelling Bee. Preliminaries start tomorrow just outside Washington DC. Just pau with sixth grade at Konawaena, Taggart is from a family of passionate spellers. His competitors include three 2011 championship finalists and a six-year-old girl who emerged as a champ from Virginia. Like 19 other spellers, Taggart has at least one relative who has competed in previous national finals.
You can find fun factoids at the bee website, www.spellingbee.com. Once again, ESPN is showing the finals of the bee. Best wishes to Taggart!
