The documentary, "Patsy Mink: Ahead of the Majority" will be shown again in Hawaii on PBS Hawaii Presents at 8:30pm Thursday, May 14, 2009. The doc tells the story of the first woman of color in Congress and driving force behind Title IX, the landmark legislation that mandated gender equity in education.
PBS Hawaii's VP/Creative Services, Robert Pennybacker, advised filmmaker Bassford, assisted with funding, and made important connections with PBS TV stations on the continent. Kimberlee is a talented young filmmaker who became interested in Mink's story when she realized that her access to higher education was a result of Mink's groundbreaking legislation.
