I mentioned here the other day that our chief engineer was sweating out a delay in the delivery of some television equipment. Well, he's learned that the shipping company made an error and as a result, he won't be able to install the needed equipment on the Big Island for perhaps two weeks.
The shipping snag is going to affect PBS Hawaii's over-the-air viewers on Hawaii Island from Hilo to South Point. They won't be able to receive our programming until the equipment is up and running.
The great majority of PBS Hawaii viewers who subscribe to cable and satellite services won't be affected.
In case you're wondering what the equipment is for on Hawaii Island--it's to be used in constructing a relay site. This particular site receives our broadcast signal from the station's new Maui transmitter and relays the signal to the Hilo translator which impacts other translators all the way to South Point.
