What can I say...the increase in power for our Honolulu transmitter was scheduled for the end of September, but has been postponed due to FCC licensing concerns. PBS Hawaii applied for a power increase in July and usually these applications are granted quickly, but due to a FCC monitoring station located nearby, more studies had to be conducted and several agencies of the FCC have to approve the application before it can be granted. So the upgrade to our transmitter has been postponed to the first quarter of 2010...pending approval from the FCC.
Does this mean there's hope that someday we may be able to watch PBS again? Ever since the switch to digital, and our frugal approach - the acquisition of a black converter box - no PBS. Nada. Zip. We live in Manoa on Sonoma St. Do we have to pay for cable to have a reason to even own a TV (ie watch PBS)?
